Backtracking a bit, we both retired last July (2014). We sold our home in NH and found a new home in Savannah Georgia. Why Savannah you ask?? Well first and foremost, we were done with Northern Winters. In hindsight, that was a great choice as New England had one of its worst ever winters. Secondly, we would be close to our youngest son and 3 youngest grandchildren. Truth be told, me missed the others growing up as we always lived somewhere else. This was a chance to experience that this time around.
It was amazing how it all fell into place. Lyn retired on the 2nd and I on the 3rd. Got ready for the movers who arrived on the 10th, we closed on the 11th and left the 12th for GA. We arrived on the 14th, stayed at a hotel in Pooler and boarded the dogs. The morning of the 15th, we closed on our new home and then met Scott for lunch. On the way home, we stopped at Rooms to Go and ended up buying our planned new furniture, Living room, Dining Room and Master Bedroom. Most of it was delivered by Thursday, only 2 days later.
Sounds pretty perfect right? Well there was a glitch, our belongings from NH were two weeks late! It was helped by the fact that we bought so much new furniture but clothes, kitchen and bath stuff was in short supply for a while.. 🙂
Later in the summer we picked up two patio sets on closeout, one for the outside patio and one for the screen room.
