IBA Pizza Party!

IBA = Iron Butt Association (long Distance Riders)

Pizza Party = Party with Pizza as the main Course!

IBA Pizza Party = A Pizza party on Steroids!!!

The 1st one I attended was back in 2002 and it was actually a Pizza Party at a VFW north of Daytona.  Richard Hamblen and rode up from Daytona and had a nice time, only knew a few people.

Fast Forward to today, held in JAX at the Ramada Inn and Conference Center, the IBA takes over the entire hotel for the weekend.  It is capped at 300 guests and sells out every year.   Friday is no longer Pizza but a full catered dinner.  From the email notification…

“Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. We are going to serve a buffet style meal of tossed green salad, Italian pasta salad, Waldorf Salad, Green Beans Almandine, Red Bliss potatoes, steamed mixed vegetables, rice pilaf, sirloin beef tips, roast chicken and assorted desserts. As usual, a cash bar will be available. We will do a short presentation at 8 p.m. which is always fun, however the goal of the two day party is to get a chance to meet fellow long-distance riders, share stories and farkling tips (bring your cameras!), make new friends and get caught up with old ones – what more could you ask for?”

I headed out on Wednesday March 10th and checked in early.   Hung out with fellow riders and saw a couple unexpected ones which is always nice.   Roamed a bit Thursday, then Friday hung out at the hotel with everyone for meet & greet, awards and Party.  Saturday we cruised down along the pacific coast south of St Augustine.   It was a beautiful day.  Sunday, it was back to GA and I managed to get back safely and not catch any rain.   I really enjoy this event!
