We had talked last year after getting the new truck, that maybe Lyn would want a newer vehicle with Bluetooth, Satellite Radio, Backup Camera and Navigation. I had figured maybe end of 1st quarter this year.
We have been doing some research on the Net and yesterday went for a drive to look at a few models. Our goal was a year or 2 old and Lyn wanted to see what else might be available besides a CRV, which she is driving. Please note, she had no complaints, fully expected to end up with a CRV, just wanted to see what other options were around.
We road out to Rincon to the Chevrolet dealer, they had a Ford escape, Dodge Journey when I drove by the other day. Well, today the Ford was sold but we were able to see the Journey. Not a bad vehicle, it was older and higher mileage than we were looking but it was a possible. They did not have an Equinox (Chevy) used so for reference we sat in a new one. Loaded and out of our price range but nice. I did not find it as roomy as the Journey. We then headed up to Springfield Chrysler Dodge Jeep, where I bought my Ram truck. This is part of the Kaminsky group that also owns Honda in Savannah and where we have gone for service etc.
As always, we were treated respectfully without pressure and all options explained and questions answered. Our sales lady pointed out the Jeep (which we had not considered) had a model that was a CRV competitor. We then looked at both the Jeep Cherokee Sport and Dodge Journey. We drove the Jeep and Lyn fell in love with the ride and comfort immediately. Her mind was made up!! We did drive the Journey and though a bit larger, it was not as comfortable, smooth or quiet. After a brief discussion, Leta took the CRV VIN# to get us a price and trade in. She came back with a number that was acceptable and based on a New Vehicle with Warranty, not much more than used would have cost us. Lyn agreed to buy it so we headed home to bring the CRV back while they prepared paperwork and prepped the car. Total time from arrival to the sale, to home and back and passing papers was only about 6 hours and we left in her new 2016 Jeep Sport!
