Earlier this year, Scott called and said they were taking the kids to Disney and invited us (and Morgan’s parents) to join them. It was a no-brainer, we had never been so it was an opportunity both for us and to enjoy it through the eyes of the grand kids, Jack, Harper and Ella!
Scott made all the plans, lodging, tickets reservations etc and did an excellent and thorough job of planning. We went over Labor day weekend and when I asked Scott, it was both considered “off peak” and also not very crowded. We checked in on Thursday 9/3 to the Wilderness Lodge. Such Rustic Beauty! The staff was superb and accommodating. Scott was about 25 minutes behind us and by the time we were checked in and settled, he was pulling in.
That evening, we went in to Downtown Disney, an area of shops and restaurants. We had dinner reservations at the T-Rex Cafe. We used the bus transportation which picked us up at the lodge. It worked so well, we never saw our car, using public transportation the rest of the trip. The kids really enjoyed the T-Rex.
The next morning it was an early bus to the Magic Kingdom!! We wanted to be there before the park opened for the Opening Ceremonies. So glad we went for this, it was one of the highlights, the kids were so excited!
The rest of the day was FULL! The kids went on some rides, met some characters and basically browsed the park. At lunch, we had a reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table where the girls would get a chance to meet some of the Disney Princesses. They really enjoyed this, the lunch was very good and the staff superb!
Here is the lunch……
I took the water taxi back to the Lodge and that is where we had our dinner. Saturday we ventured over to Disney Hollywood Studios. We had a breakfast reservation at Disney’s Hollywood & Vice restaurant, another of the venues where the characters visit the table. Again, service was superb, the buffet was very good and the kids had a blast!
After breakfast, we toured the park seeing attractions and enjoying the “Hollywood” sights. It was a lot of fun and I took a lot of pictures. We all attended the Indiana Jones stunt show and then jack had a special Event for Jedi Training! Back to the hotel a bit and then we headed back to Downtown Disney for shopping and dinner. Some final photos..
Sunday, Scott changed plans and we hung out at the lodge and utilized the pools. Very nice pool area with a separate area for young kids with slides etc. The kids enjoyed that alot. Scott had a pass for the girls to see Elsa and Anna so they went back to the Magic Kingdom for that, had dinner and then did the evening fireworks. Lyn and I watched them from our room.
Monday, well it was time to head home. We had a breakfast reservation in the morning at the Lodge so we could all get together before heading our separate ways. On the way home, Lyn and I stopped in Daytona and I showed her the Speedway. The timing of the tours did not work for us, maybe another trip.
We had a great time… we both would be willing to go back again, so much to see and so little time.
